Introduction
The Academy is situated about 21 kms away from Guwahati Railway Station and about 40 kms away from Guwahati Airport. The Academy is spread over an area of about 24 hectares which is spread on either side of the NH 40. The Assam side land measuring about 19 hectares falls in Kamrup district and the remaining 5 hectares on the Meghalaya side falling under Ribhoi district. The main administrative building of the Academy and hostel are located on Assam side. The Academy, since its inception and till date has trained about 530 ACF rank officers and 400 plus Range Officers. In both the cases officers from almost all the states of India have availed the training services provided by the Academy.
ALLOTMENT OF SEATS
Seats are allotted to the Academy by the Director, Directorate of Forest Education, Dehradun. The Directorate of Forest Education also provides the technical guidelines for Range Officer Academies/Colleges which are run and managed by the State Governments. All issues related to training of SFS and Range Forest Officers across India are dealt with as per Govt. of India Entrance and Training Rules (Revised) 2004 as amended from time to time.
FACULTY
The Academy has sanctioned posts for faculty (core forestry) level postings including the Principal. All the faculty posts are deputation posts which are normally filled by senior IFS officers.
